Chapter 1 - The Girl Who Knew His NameThe night Tank came home, the air around the old clubhouse felt different.

It was supposed to be a homecoming.
Instead, it felt like a funeral waiting for its body.
The parking lot was washed in pale moonlight, chrome motorcycles lined up beneath the flickering lamps, and familiar faces stared at the man who had once been one of them.
Tank stood in the center of it all, older now, harder, carrying years of exile in the broad set of his shoulders.
Then a little girl stepped forward.
She couldn't have been more than eight.
She looked at him with strange, heartbreaking certainty.
“Are you Tank?”
He slowly nodded.
The girl swallowed.
“My mom said you'd come back someday.”
Something inside him cracked.
He hadn't heard that voice in years.
Not her voice.
Her words.
His past.
And before Tank could ask another question, the girl whispered:
May you like
“She said you needed to know why she never came after you.”
The entire lot went silent.
