“Fine.”
Marcus stared at her.
“What?”

“You want the truth?”
She pointed toward Leo.
“That child destroyed everything!”
Marcus went still.
Victoria laughed bitterly.
“Every dinner became about Leo. Every trip was canceled because of Leo. Every time you looked at him, you remembered Isabella.”
“Don't say her name.”
Victoria smiled.
“There it is.”
Marcus stepped toward her.
“You tried to murder my son.”
Victoria's expression twisted.
“He was never supposed to survive.”
Elena felt cold despite her soaked clothes.
Marcus immediately called security.
Victoria tried to flee.
Two guards intercepted her near the driveway.
Police were called.
The footage was duplicated.
Victoria was arrested before sunrise.
But as officers placed her inside the cruiser, she looked past Marcus.
Directly at Elena.
And smiled.
“You think this is over?”
Elena said nothing.
Victoria leaned toward the window.
“You have no idea what you interrupted.”
The cruiser disappeared through the gates.
Marcus looked at Elena.
But Elena was staring into the darkness.
