Vanessa had not kidnapped Rachel for months.
The truth was quieter.
And uglier.
She controlled information.
She answered calls while Daniel was at work.
She filtered mail.
She told the school Rachel’s contact should remain restricted.
She told Rachel that Daniel had moved on.
She told Daniel that Rachel needed “space.”
Every lie was small enough to sound reasonable.
Together they created a wall.
Vanessa’s brother, Cole, helped.
He worked in IT.
He had access to the household network.
Investigators later found forwarding rules on Daniel’s email account.
Messages containing Rachel’s name were moved automatically into an archive folder Daniel never checked.
Cole claimed it began as a technical favor.
