Chapter 7 - Margaret Had Seen the Trust

Margaret denied knowing about Schedule H-17.
Then hotel security recovered another clip.
The night before the wedding, she had met with a man in the hotel
business center.
He was Philip Dane.
A longtime Hale corporate attorney who had recently left the company.
Judith’s video did not capture their conversation.
But hotel entry logs showed Margaret used Daniel’s guest credential to
enter the locked office suite where wedding and corporate files were
stored.
Philip later admitted he had shown Margaret a draft legal analysis
discussing Emily’s possible voting interest.
He said Margaret claimed Daniel already knew.
Daniel had not.
Margaret had learned the truth before the wedding.
She had not told him.
Instead, she and Vanessa prepared the bracelet.
Daniel confronted her.
“You knew Emily might have a legal interest.”
Margaret folded her arms.
“I knew Richard made a mess.”
“So you framed my sister?”
“I protected Vanessa.”
“From what?”
Margaret’s answer was quiet.
“From being dragged into your father’s second family.”
Emily flinched.
May you like
Daniel did not.
He had heard enough.
