The house changed overnight.
There were backpacks everywhere.
Robotics kits.
Dinosaur toys.
Shoes by every door.
Noise from morning until night.
It was chaos.
Beautiful chaos.
One morning, Lily accidentally called Emma “Mom.”
She froze.
Emma didn't react dramatically.
She simply smiled.
“Coming, bug.”
That night, Lily cried.
“I didn't mean to replace Mommy.”
Daniel hugged her.
“You didn't.”
“Your heart is big enough to love more than one person.”
That was the night something healed inside Lily.
Months later, Daniel proposed in the backyard.
Five children surrounded them, screaming:
“Say yes!”
Emma laughed through tears.
“Yes.”
They married the following spring.
Lily stood beside Daniel.
The twins were flower girls.
Jax carried the rings.
Noah carried a stuffed dinosaur.
And when Emma said her vows, she looked at all five children.
“I didn't just marry Daniel,” she said.
“I married all of you.”
Daniel knew then.
