Everyone except himself.
Then Thanksgiving arrived.
We hosted dinner.
Mom came.
Savannah came.
Max was not invited because Rose wasn't ready.
Kendra refused to come without him.
Dad announced he wouldn't attend unless I apologized for “humiliating the family.”
I replied with two words.
“Happy Thanksgiving.”
We ate without him.
It was one of the most peaceful holidays we'd had in years.
