Chapter 20 - The Name on the EnvelopeThree years later, Lily ran through the restaurant laughing.

Claire watched from behind the counter.
Julian was in the kitchen arguing with a chef about dessert.
Life had become ordinary.
Beautifully ordinary.
Then the mail arrived.
Among the bills was a small black envelope.
No return address.
Julian opened it.
Inside was a single photograph.
An old photograph of Julian's father.
But there was something strange.
Standing beside him was a woman Julian had never seen before.
On the back of the photograph were six words:
"Your father didn't tell you everything."
Julian's smile disappeared.
Claire noticed.
"What is it?"
He looked at her.
For a moment, he considered hiding it.
Then he handed her the photograph.
Claire studied it.
"Who is she?"
"I don't know."
Lily appeared behind them.
"Dad?"
Julian turned.
He looked at his daughter.
Then at Claire.
Then back at the photograph.
The past had finally given them peace.
But perhaps the past wasn't finished with them.
Julian folded the photograph carefully.
"We'll find out."
Claire took his hand.
"Together?"
He smiled.
"Always."
Outside, the city lights flickered against the night sky.
Their story had survived betrayal, humiliation, separation, and heartbreak.
They had found their way back to one another.
They had built a family.
They had earned their happy ending.
But somewhere beyond the glowing windows of Lily's restaurant, another secret was waiting.
