Chapter 6 - THE DEAD WOMAN’S ARCHIVE
By nightfall, they reached Baltimore using back roads and borrowed vehicles.
Sarah led them beneath an abandoned row house once owned by her mother.
Behind a false basement wall stood three steel filing cabinets.
Inside were thirty years of secrets.
Photographs.
Medical files.
Bank transfers.
Letters from Arthur Vance to Rebecca Hale.
Chloe read one sentence twice.
If anything happens to Rebecca, Eleanor must never control our son.
Daniel turned away.
For the first time, Chloe watched her husband cry.
Then Sarah discovered a cassette labeled:
THE NIGHT REBECCA DIED.
They played it.
A frightened woman’s voice filled the basement.
Rebecca.
She named Eleanor.
She described threats.
Then she said something none of them expected.
“Arthur’s child must never learn Eleanor wasn't acting alone.”
The recording ended.

Chloe stared at Daniel.
“Who was helping her?”
