Margaret arrived dressed like royalty.
She expected to win.

Then I took the stand.
I told the judge everything.
The pregnancy.
The birth.
The lies.

The courtroom fell silent.
Then Lily spoke privately with the judge.
Twenty minutes later, the judge returned.
“Lily wishes to remain with Emily and James.”
Margaret exploded.
“She is my blood!”
The judge's voice remained calm.
“Blood does not give anyone permission to harm a child.”
Margaret was convicted of kidnapping, fraud, forgery, false reporting, and custodial interference.
