Marcus immediately objected.
“We already buried one traitor who wasn't a traitor.”
Claire nodded.
“So we don't accuse anyone without proof.”
They reconstructed Ridge Kilo.
Every radio call.
Every route change.
Every evacuation order.
Then Rebecca discovered something in Thomas's field recording.
A voice.
Faint.
Nearly hidden beneath gunfire.
Claire recognized it.
Iron Six.
Nathan Cross.
But Nathan insisted he had been miles away when the recording was made.
Technical analysis confirmed something worse.
Nathan was telling the truth.
The voice had been inserted afterward.
Someone was manufacturing another betrayal.
Exactly as Voss had done to Evelyn.
Claire finally understood.
IRONFALL II wasn't an operation.
It was a warning.
Everett had discovered someone was rebuilding Voss's methods.
Creating false evidence.
Turning allies against one another.
Destroying teams from within.
Claire looked around at the people she loved.
“The next attack won't come through a mountain corridor.”
Marcus understood.
“It'll come through us.”
