Chapter 11 - THE FINAL COURTROOMThe custody trial began under intense media attention.

Julian sat across the courtroom.
He looked thinner.
Older.
Almost human.
For one dangerous second, I remembered the man I thought he was.
Then I remembered the gun.
The scar.
The blood.
The life insurance policy.
The courtroom became a battlefield.
Victoria Grant attacked me again.
"You destroyed his family."
"No."
"You orchestrated the raid."
"To expose crimes."
"You wanted revenge."
"I wanted my daughter alive."
She slammed a folder onto the table.
"You're a billionaire heiress with unlimited resources!"
I looked at the judge.
"Money didn't stop him from punching me."
Silence.
"Money didn't save my baby from being born six weeks early."
I swallowed.
"Money didn't protect me from a gun pointed at my daughter's head."
Then I turned toward Julian.
"You did all of this yourself."

His expression changed.
For the first time, he looked afraid.
