Chapter 17 - THE EMPIRE I CHANGEDA year after Julian's conviction, I took over Hale Industries.

At first, I didn't want the position.
I thought my father's empire represented everything I had spent my life escaping.
Then I realized something.
Power itself wasn't evil.
What mattered was what you did with it.
So I changed the company.
Workers received better wages.
We built affordable housing.
We funded hospitals.
We created scholarships.
We opened clinics in communities that had never been able to afford them.
The company grew.
But for the first time, growth wasn't measured only in dollars.
It was measured in lives changed.
My father watched from the corner of the boardroom.
After one meeting, he said:
"You're better at this than I ever was."
I smiled.
"Don't tell anyone."
May you like
He laughed.
"Never."
