Chapter 13 - Arthur Makes One Final RequestBy spring, Arthur’s cancer had progressed.

He knew.
We all knew.
One Sunday, he gathered us at the estate.
Kelly.
Leo.
Me.
And unexpectedly, Luca.
Dinner was awkward.
Then Arthur raised his glass.
“I don't have many Sundays left.”
Nobody spoke.
“So we're not wasting this one.”
He made Luca sit beside him.
For the first hour, they barely spoke.
After dinner, Arthur asked his son to walk with him.
They disappeared into the garden.
I never learned everything they said.
Luca later told me only one sentence.
Arthur had looked at him and said:
“I can forgive my son without trusting the man he became.”
That distinction changed Luca.
Not immediately.
