Chapter 18 - The Truth Noah DeservedNoah had started asking questions.

One evening, he finally asked:
“Dad, why can't I see Grandma?”
Ryan knelt beside him.
“When you were a baby, Grandma made a terrible choice.”
Noah listened.
“She hurt you.”
His little face changed.
“Did I do something wrong?”
My heart broke.
“No, sweetheart.”
I knelt beside him.
“You did absolutely nothing wrong.”
“Then why did she hurt me?”
Ryan pulled him close.
“Sometimes adults make terrible choices. But that is never the child's fault.”
Noah looked at Lily.
“Did Sissy save me?”
Lily smiled.
“I told the truth.”
Noah hugged her.
“You're my hero.”
Lily hugged him back.
“And you're my little brother.”
That night, I watched them sleeping.
