Victor entered quietly.
“Your daughter is getting closer.”
The older woman looked at him without fear.
“She always was.”
Victor smiled.
“She doesn't know what you did.”
The woman's eyes hardened.
“I did what I had to do.”
“You betrayed me.”
“No.”
She leaned forward.
“I betrayed you because Michael gave me a choice.”
Victor's smile disappeared.
“What did he give you?”
“Hope.”
For the first time, Victor looked unsettled.
Meanwhile, Ethan discovered that the original evidence had never been destroyed.
Henry Dawson had hidden it.
And only one person knew where.
Claire's mother.
Ethan looked at Claire.
“We're bringing her home.”
Claire wiped away a tear.
“And then?”
“Then we end this.”
For the first time, they stood together.
Not as victim and liar.
