Chapter 8 - Rosa's NotebookRosa, the Whitmore family's former housekeeper, finally agreed to talk.
She met Ethan and Bennett inside an abandoned church outside the city.
Rain whispered against the stained-glass windows.
Rosa placed an old notebook on the table.
“I kept this because Michael asked me to.”
Ethan opened it.
Pages of names.
Dates.
Bank accounts.
Meetings.
Then one name appeared repeatedly.
Victor Kane.
But the final page contained something unexpected.
A location.
BLACKWATER MILL.
Rosa looked at Ethan.
“Your father went there the night before he died.”
“Why?”
“To meet Henry Dawson.”
Claire stared at the page.
“My father knew Michael.”
“Yes.”
“And my mother?”
Rosa hesitated.
“She knew more than both men.”
Claire's face went pale.
“My mother?”
Rosa nodded.
“She was the person Michael trusted most.”
