At a charity gala celebrating the Whitmore Foundation, Claire smiled beneath crystal chandeliers while Ethan introduced her to wealthy investors and political donors.
She looked perfect.
Elegant.
Confident.
Untouchable.
Then she noticed a waiter standing near the ballroom entrance.
He wasn't looking at the guests.
He was looking directly at her.
Claire's smile disappeared.
The man's eyes carried recognition.
She slipped away from the crowd and followed him into the corridor.
By the time she reached the service elevator, he was gone.
Only a folded napkin remained.
Three words were written across it.
I KNOW DAWSON.
Claire's hands began to shake.
Henry Dawson had been dead for years.
At least, that was what everyone believed.
Across the ballroom, Detective Laura Bennett watched Claire from a distance.
She had been investigating Victor Kane for months.
