Chapter 4 - The PhotographEleanor received an anonymous photograph the following morning.

It showed Michael standing beside Henry Dawson.
On the back was another message:
THE TWO MEN DIED FOR THE SAME TRUTH.
Eleanor's hands trembled.
She had believed Henry was merely an accountant.
But Michael had trusted him.
That meant the secret went deeper than money.
Ethan found his mother studying the photograph.
“Mom.”
She quickly turned it over.
“What is it?”
“Nothing.”
“You're lying.”
Eleanor looked at her son.
For a moment, she saw the frightened boy he had once been—the child who had asked why his father wasn't coming home.
“I wanted to protect you.”
“You've been protecting me from the truth my entire life.”
Her eyes filled with tears.
“I lost your father.”
“I don't want to lose you too.”
Eleanor reached for his hand.
But before she could answer, every light in the manor went out.
A car engine roared outside.
When the lights returned, the photograph was gone.
