Margaret threatened not to attend.
Daniel threatened to send a car.

Daniel reminded her he knew most of the people who would arrest him.
She attended.
Same navy dress.
Same pearls.
Different shoes.
The old pair had finally surrendered.
At the entrance, Rachel Simmons handed Margaret her seating card.

Margaret frowned.

Rachel's face fell.
"Please."
"Where are the scholarship families?"
"Tables fourteen through eighteen."
Margaret smiled.
"I'm sitting at eighteen."
Rachel groaned.
"General Brooks specifically ordered—"

"Daniel talks too much."
And Margaret walked toward the kitchen doors.
