Chapter 17 - THE SECOND CELLARThat afternoon, Lily returned to the garden.
She remembered something.
Grandpa's old plans.
The house had originally contained two underground storage areas.
The first had been discovered.
The second had never been found.
Lily called Daniel.
They searched beneath the greenhouse.
Nothing.
Then Lily noticed a stone that didn't match the others.
She moved it.
Beneath it was a metal ring.
Daniel stared.
“No.”
Lily smiled nervously.
“Another door?”
Daniel sighed.
“Apparently this family never learns.”
They lifted the stone.
A narrow staircase descended into darkness.
But this time there were no boards.
No padlock.
No screams.
Only a wooden box.

And one envelope addressed to Lily.
