A loud crash came from upstairs.
Lily screamed.
Daniel sprinted toward the staircase.
But the emergency lights suddenly turned on.
A figure stood at the top.
Lily.
Behind her was a man.
Marcus Vale.
He held no weapon.
He didn't need one.
His voice was calm.
“Your grandfather left something that belongs to me.”
Daniel stepped forward.
“You're not taking anything.”
Marcus smiled.
“I'm not here for the money.”
