Chapter 10 - TYLER'S CONFESSION
Tyler resurfaced outside Tucson.
Rebecca arranged the meeting under law-enforcement supervision.
He admitted everything.
He had followed Gaby.
Tracked her movements.
Delivered documents.
Moved money.
He had helped the Millers.
“Why turn on them?”
Gaby asked.
Tyler looked ashamed.
“Because Brenda decided I knew too much.”
Then he gave us the recording.
Derek and Brenda were talking while Gaby was still pregnant.
Derek's voice:
“Once the baby comes, she'll sign anything.”
Brenda answered:
“Exactly.”
Then Derek asked:
“What if she figures it out?”
Brenda's reply made Gaby stop breathing.
“By then, nobody will believe her.”
Tyler paused the recording.
“There is more.”
He pressed play.
Derek asked:
“What about Robert?”
Brenda answered:
“His daughter is the door. His grandson is the lock.”
I stared at Tyler.
“What does that mean?”
“I don't know.”
Then another sentence came through.
Derek said:
“And what about my other child?”

Gaby slowly looked up.
“What other child?”
