Chapter 10 - SLOANE COMES BACKSloane returned alone.

No designer entourage.
No cameras.
No arrogance.
She stood at Graham's gate in the rain.
"I owe your mother an apology."
Graham almost refused to let her in.
Then he saw her face.
She looked broken.
"I found out what my father did."
Graham said nothing.
Sloane handed him a flash drive.
"Everything is on this."
"What is it?"
"Transfers. Offshore accounts. Names."
"Why give it to me?"
"Because I finally realized my father didn't protect our family."
She looked toward the mansion.
"He protected himself."
Sloane admitted that she had known the Bellamy name for years.
Her father had warned her never to mention it.
Until the night of the party.
The mansion had triggered memories from conversations she had overheard as a child.
"That's why I said what I said."
"You knew my mother had been here."
"I knew she was afraid of this house."
Graham looked at her.
"Did you hit her because of that?"
Sloane lowered her eyes.
"No."
May you like
"I hit her because I was cruel."
It was the first honest thing Graham had ever heard her say.
