Chapter 9 - CONRAD'S LAST WARNINGConrad Harrow arrived personally.

No lawyers.

No assistants.

Just him.

He entered Graham's study as though he still owned the place.

"You should stop digging."

Graham stared at him.

"Did you know my father?"

Conrad didn't answer.

"Did you fund my company?"

Still silence.

Graham slammed the recording onto the desk.

"You owe me answers."

Conrad's expression finally cracked.

"I owed your father a debt."

"What kind?"

"A life."

Conrad admitted that Daniel had once saved him from criminal prosecution.

In return, Conrad promised to protect Marianne and Graham.

But promises made between powerful men rarely remained clean.

Conrad had used Bellamy's money to protect Graham's company.

He had manipulated investors.

He had hidden records.

And he had watched Graham become wealthy without ever revealing why.

"I protected you," Conrad said.

"You controlled me."

"No."

Conrad looked exhausted.

"I protected you from the people who wanted your father dead."

"Who?"

Conrad hesitated.

Then he said:

"The people who still believe your family owes them."
