Chapter 8 - THE WITNESSGraham brought Evelyn inside.
Security locked down the estate.
She finally revealed the truth.
Daniel Voss had not died because of illness.
He had been preparing to expose a financial conspiracy involving Bellamy and Harrow interests.
But Daniel wasn't the only person who knew.
There was another witness.
A woman named Clara.
She had worked in Bellamy's accounting department.
She had copied evidence before disappearing.
Marianne had hidden Clara.
And the hiding place?
The mansion.
Graham looked toward the old music room.
"She's still here?"
Evelyn shook her head.
"Not anymore."
"Where is she?"
Evelyn looked frightened.
"She died three years ago."
Graham exhaled.
Then Evelyn added:
"But she left something for you."
A recording.
Daniel's voice filled the room.
"If you're hearing this, Graham, your mother failed to keep me hidden."
A pause.
"I need you to know one thing."
"I never abandoned you."
Graham's eyes filled with tears.
