Walking cane.

"You look like Daniel," he said.
Graham stopped.
"You knew my father."
"I loved your father like a brother."
"Why did you disappear?"
"Because disappearing was the only way to keep your mother alive."
Graham demanded the truth.
Elias gave it.
Daniel had not been murdered by Bellamy.
He had been betrayed by someone closer.
Someone inside the family.
Someone Marianne had protected for decades.
Graham stared.
"Who?"
Elias looked toward the ocean.
"Your father's own brother."
Graham had never known Daniel had a brother.
