Gunfire tore through the old house.
His security team returned fire.
Sarah crawled toward the hidden ledger.
She knew it was the only evidence explaining the larger conspiracy.
A shadow appeared behind her.
She turned.
Elias Grant.
He wasn't holding a gun.
He was holding a flash drive.
"Don't shoot," he whispered.
Nathan emerged from the darkness.
"Give me one reason."
Grant looked exhausted.
"Because Moretti isn't the one who started this."
Nathan froze.
"Who did?"
Grant's eyes moved toward Sarah.
"The person who ordered the poisoning has access to federal contracts, private laboratories, and half the hospitals that treated your sons."
Sarah felt her stomach drop.
Grant continued.
"They wanted the boys alive."
Nathan's voice became deadly.
"Why?"
