Chapter 20 - The Door That Stayed OpenSix months later, the Coleman estate had changed.

The children's wing was remodeled.

The windows opened now.

The air was clean.

The walls were brighter.

And the two boys were healthier than they had been in years.

Nathan had begun stepping away from the criminal world, using his wealth to establish a legitimate security and humanitarian foundation.

Sarah helped run it.

Their lives weren't perfect.

But they were real.

One evening, the family gathered around the dinner table.

Marcus was telling an exaggerated story about school.

Mason was laughing so hard he could barely speak.

Nathan looked across the table at Sarah.

She smiled.

For the first time, she understood what it meant to stay.

Later that night, Sarah walked onto the balcony.

The city glittered beneath the dark sky.

Nathan joined her.

"You know," he said, "I used to think surviving was the greatest victory."

Sarah leaned against him.

"And now?"

He looked toward the children's bedroom.

"Now I think it's having something worth coming home to."

Sarah smiled.

Then her phone vibrated.

She looked down.

One message.

No name.

No number.

Only five words:

THE GAME ISN'T OVER YET.

Sarah's smile disappeared.

Nathan noticed.

"What is it?"

She slowly turned the screen toward him.

For several seconds, neither spoke.

Then Nathan smiled—not with fear, but with calm certainty.

"Whatever comes next..."

He took her hand.

"...we face it together."

Inside the house, Marcus and Mason suddenly shouted for them.

"Dad! Sarah! Come see this!"

Sarah looked back through the open doors.

Warm light spilled across the floor.

A family waited inside.

She squeezed Nathan's hand.

And together, they walked back toward the light.

Behind them, somewhere beyond the city skyline, a black car disappeared into the darkness.

The past had not completely disappeared.

The future was still unwritten.

But this time, Sarah wasn't running from it.

May you like

She was walking toward it.

And whatever waited beyond that open door would have to face the Coleman family together.
