Chapter 13 - BRIGGS MADE HIS CHOICEThomas was tied beneath a hanging industrial light.

Cross watched through a secure video feed.
Briggs stood opposite him.
The pistol felt impossibly heavy.
Thomas recognized him.
“You're Briggs.”
Briggs almost laughed.
“Apparently my reputation travels.”
“You hurt my daughter.”
Briggs lowered his eyes.
“Yes, sir.”
Thomas studied him.
“Are you going to hurt her again?”
Briggs looked directly into the hidden camera.
“No.”
Then he fired.
The bullet struck the chain above Thomas.
The light crashed down.
Darkness swallowed the warehouse.
Avery’s team entered.
Gunfire followed.
Briggs freed Thomas.
Hayes captured two mercenaries.
But Cross escaped Fort Liberty before military police reached his quarters.
Inside Cross’s office they discovered something worse.
Maps.
Personnel records.
Target photographs.
Families.
Witnesses.
And one scheduled operation.
