Chapter 14 - MIDNIGHT GLASSMidnight Glass was not an assassination.

It was a purge.
Cross intended to eliminate every major witness connected to Black Meridian simultaneously.
Thomas.
Vance.
Hayes.
Briggs.
Avery.
Investigators.
Even Larson, the young soldier who had apologized after Avery’s fight.
The network had learned from its mistake.
No witnesses.
Avery realized the attack would involve people already inside Fort Liberty.
They couldn't trust ordinary communication channels.
Vance quietly locked down sensitive sections of the base without announcing why.
Families were moved.
Witnesses disappeared into secure housing.
Avery returned to the original training field shortly before midnight.
Five hundred empty seats surrounded it.
She remembered Briggs falling.
The beginning of everything.
Hayes joined her.
“Scared?”
“Yes.”
He nodded.
“Good.”
Avery looked at him.
Hayes almost smiled.
“Means you're paying attention.”
At 11:57 p.m., every light around the field died.
May you like
Avery whispered:
“Here we go.”
