Chapter 13 - Six Months LaterSix months changed everything.

Trevor was living with Evelyn in a cramped apartment in Oakwood.
He had found a low-level data-entry job.
The luxury life was gone.
The expensive dinners were gone.
The vacations were gone.
The cards were gone.
The judge denied his request for alimony.
The prenup was airtight.
My evidence was undeniable.
Meanwhile, I rebuilt my life.
Not the old life.
A better one.
I changed every electronic lock.
Replaced the security codes.
Updated the cameras.
Reorganized my financial accounts.
Then I began restoring the garden.
The shed that had once been my prison became something beautiful.
Glass walls replaced the old wood.
Soft lighting filled the interior.
Shelves were installed along the walls.
And slowly, rare orchids began appearing.
The place became a greenhouse.
Every morning, I drank coffee beside those flowers.

And every morning, I felt something I hadn't felt in years.
Peace.
