Chapter 6 - 3:17 A.M.Sarah Miller replied twelve minutes later.

DO NOT DELETE ANYTHING. DO NOT CONFRONT THEM. I'LL BE THERE AT DAWN.

I read the message twice.

For the first time that night, I allowed myself to breathe.

The rain had stopped.

The garden was quiet.

I stepped outside the shed.

The villa stood above me like a fortress.

For years, I had thought of it as a home.

Tonight, it looked like evidence.

I walked around the garden and checked the cameras.

Every angle had been recorded.

Trevor yelling.

Evelyn insulting me.

The relatives laughing as my belongings were thrown aside.

My hands trembled slightly.

Not from fear.

From grief.

Because beneath all the anger was one painful truth.

I had loved Trevor.

Once.

Maybe I had loved the man I believed he could become.

But that man was gone.

Or perhaps he had never existed.

I returned to the shed and sat beneath the tiny window.

Inside the villa, the family was finally quiet.

No more laughter.

No more celebration.

Just whispers.

May you like

They were beginning to realize that they had underestimated me.

That was the first victory.
