Chapter 15 - The Man Behind the SecretThe mastermind was finally identified.
Dr. Victor Langley.
A respected fertility specialist.
A man whose clinic had received awards for medical innovation.
He had manipulated donor records for years.
He had convinced wealthy clients that they could secretly select genetic traits.
He had hidden errors.
Destroyed records.
And when mistakes threatened to expose him, he altered files.
Our family had become one of many.
But there was one problem he hadn't anticipated.
DNA doesn't care about secrets.
The police arrested him after investigators recovered encrypted records.
Inside were hundreds of patient files.
And among them was Grant's.
The file contained a handwritten note:
"Do not disclose genetic relationship to Carter family."
I looked at Grant.
"What does that mean?"
He shook his head.
"I don't know."
Then Ethan stepped forward.
"I do."
Everyone turned toward him.
"My father wasn't just Victor Langley's patient."
May you like
He paused.
"He was his partner."
