Then came the comments.
People called me a liar.
A cheater.
A woman who had trapped a wealthy man with another man's child.
Grant's business associates began calling.
His family demanded answers.
Evelyn claimed she had only wanted "the truth."
But I knew better.
She had exposed us publicly before the clinic had finished investigating.
That evening, Grant came home furious.
"Did you talk to anyone?"
"No."
"Then who leaked this?"
I looked at him.
"Maybe someone who had something to gain."
His expression hardened.
"Are you accusing my mother?"
"I'm accusing everyone."
Then my phone rang.
It was the clinic.
The receptionist's voice was trembling.
"Mrs. Carter, you need to come here immediately."
"Why?"
"We found something in the archive."
"What?"
