Chapter 6 - THE WOMAN BEHIND THE NAMEJulian brought Clara into his study.
He didn't sit behind his desk.
Instead, he sat across from her.
For the first time, Clara saw something beyond the billionaire.
She saw a man trying to understand what had happened to two wounded women.
"I had my investigator look into your background," Julian said.
Clara lowered her eyes.
"Why?"
"Because Victoria mentioned something I couldn't ignore."
He placed the DNA report on the table.
Clara stared at it.
Her hands began shaking.
"The results suggest you and Victoria share biological parents."
She looked up.
"But that's impossible."
"I thought so too."
Clara read the report.
Her breathing became shallow.
"My parents were named Daniel and Evelyn Bennett."
Julian shook his head.
"Those names may have been assigned to you."
Clara's eyes filled with tears.
"Then who am I?"
Julian had no answer.
But the investigator did.
Hours later, an old photograph arrived.
Two little girls stood beside a woman.
One had dark hair.
The other had lighter hair.
The younger girl held a red scarf.
Clara stared at the photograph.
She knew that scarf.
Her fingers trembled.
"That's me."
Julian nodded.
"And the girl beside you?"
