Chapter 8 - VICTORIA STRIKES BACKVictoria wasn't finished.
She had lost the mansion.
The engagement.
Her reputation.
But she still possessed one weapon.
Information.
From a hotel room across the city, she stared at the skyline.
Her phone rang.
"Did you find the file?"
A man's voice answered.
"Yes."
"Then send it."
A pause.
"Are you sure?"
Victoria smiled.
"I want Julian to know exactly who Clara's father was."
The file was sent.
Meanwhile, Julian received an anonymous email.
Inside was a photograph of Daniel Vale.
Beneath it was a message:
Your father knew him.
Julian froze.
His own father.
The late Richard Sterling.
The man who had built the foundation of the Sterling empire.
Could he have been connected to Clara's disappearance?
Julian opened another attachment.
A ledger.
Payments.
Shell companies.
Names.
One name appeared repeatedly.
Richard Sterling.

Julian's stomach turned.
The family empire he inherited might have been built on a crime.
