Chapter 9 - The Family He Came FromRyan's brother Mark finally came forward.
He told us what happened when they were teenagers.
Ryan had attacked him.
His jaw had been broken.
The family called it a motorcycle accident.
They lied.
They hid it.
They protected Ryan.
Then Mark told me something I couldn't forget.
“Ryan loves people when they give him what he wants.”
I asked about Ryan's father, Frank.
Dad finally told me the truth.
Frank had once been his business partner.
Frank had stolen money.
Dad had reported him.
Frank lost everything.
Ryan had grown up believing my father destroyed his family.
But the old records revealed something more complicated.
Dad had once made an unauthorized transfer to cover payroll.
He disclosed it to regulators.
It was a mistake.
Not theft.
Ryan had taken that small imperfection and built an entire revenge narrative around it.
Then investigators discovered the missing ledger from the old company.
