Chapter 18 - The Hidden FileThe message contained a photograph.
It showed Richard Whitmore standing beside a man Evelyn had never seen before.
On the back was a date.
Twenty-five years earlier.
Alexander looked at the photograph.
"That's my father."
"Who is the other man?"
Alexander's face changed.
"I don't know."
The message continued.
Ask your husband why his father really built Whitmore Holdings.
Evelyn felt a chill.
They returned to the old Whitmore estate.
In Richard's study, Alexander found a hidden compartment behind the fireplace.
Inside was a file.
Old bank records.
Photographs.
Contracts.
And one birth certificate.
Alexander opened it.
His face went completely white.
Evelyn stepped closer.
"What is it?"
He couldn't speak.
The name on the certificate belonged to a child born twenty-five years earlier.
A child connected to Richard Whitmore.
A child whose existence had never been mentioned.
