Chapter 6 - A Shadow From the PastEvelyn began investigating quietly.
She contacted people Alexander had trusted before the marriage.
One name kept appearing.
Daniel Cross.
Alexander's former financial adviser.
Daniel had disappeared from the company shortly after Richard Whitmore's death.
When Evelyn found him, he refused to speak.
"You're asking questions that could get you hurt."
"I've already lost my marriage."
Daniel looked at her sadly.
"That's not what I'm talking about."
He handed her a flash drive.
"Your husband isn't the only person Victoria is manipulating."
Evelyn stared at him.
"What does she want?"
Daniel's voice dropped.
"Control of Whitmore Holdings."
"But she's carrying Alexander's child."
Daniel shook his head.
"No."
Evelyn froze.
"That's impossible."
"I ran the original medical records."
May you like
Daniel looked directly into her eyes.
"The child isn't Alexander's."
