Chapter 3 - The Woman Behind the TearsEvelyn left the penthouse before midnight.

She drove through Manhattan without knowing where she was going.

The rain blurred the windshield.

Her hands trembled around the steering wheel.

For seven years, she had believed Alexander knew her.

But perhaps he had only known the woman he wanted her to be.

When she finally stopped near Central Park, her phone began ringing.

Alexander.

She stared at the screen.

She didn't answer.

A second call came.

Then a third.

Finally, a message appeared.

Come home. We need to settle this privately.

Evelyn closed her eyes.

She remembered the first time Alexander had kissed her.

They had been standing in a tiny restaurant downtown, laughing because they could barely afford dinner.

He had promised her something.

"I'll never let anyone make you feel alone."

Seven years later, he was the one doing exactly that.

Meanwhile, across the city, Victoria stood in Alexander's penthouse.

She wiped away her tears.

The moment Alexander left the room, her expression changed.

The trembling disappeared.

The sadness vanished.

A faint smile appeared.

She opened her handbag.

Inside was a photograph.

A photograph of Evelyn.

And written across the back were four words:

She knows too much.
