Meanwhile, Alexander became increasingly distant from Victoria.
Her stories began contradicting each other.
She claimed she had known Alexander for ten years.
Then she said they had met only recently.
She said the baby was conceived in Paris.
Later, she mentioned Milan.
Small details.
Tiny cracks.
But Alexander had begun noticing them.
One evening, Victoria entered his office and found him staring at an old photograph.
It showed Alexander and Evelyn on their wedding day.
"You still love her," Victoria said.
Alexander didn't answer.
Victoria's face hardened.
"After everything she did?"
Alexander finally looked at her.
