Windows were boarded.
Vines covered the walls.
Inside, they found dozens of medical files.
Not just Evelyn's.
Other people had been brought there.
Witnesses.
Business partners.
Employees.
People who knew too much.
Noah realized this was bigger than their family.
Vanessa hadn't created the system.
She had inherited it.
At the end of the corridor, they found a locked room.
A woman's voice came from inside.
“Who's there?”
Noah stopped.
He knew that voice.
He opened the door.
A woman sat beside the window.
Her hair was shorter.
Her face was thinner.
But her eyes were unmistakable.
“Mom?”
Evelyn stood.
For several seconds, nobody moved.
Then Lily ran into her arms.
Evelyn collapsed to her knees, crying.
“My babies…”
Noah finally allowed himself to cry.
But their reunion lasted only seconds.
Evelyn grabbed Noah's shoulders.
“You have to leave.”
“Why?”
“Because Vanessa isn't the person you should be afraid of.”
