Thomas looked at David.
“Your daughter changed everything.”
David's blood ran cold.
“So that's why my mother attacked Leah.”
His mother shook her head.
“No.”
She looked at David.
“I attacked Leah because I believed someone was using her to reach Maya.”
David stared at her.
“You're still lying.”
His mother began crying.
“No, David.”
Then she whispered:
“The person who wants Maya isn't Thomas.”
