Chapter 39 - The LetterBack home, David studied the photograph.

The woman had a familiar face.

Not familiar enough to identify.

But something about her eyes bothered him.

He turned the photograph over.

There was another message.

If David ever learns the truth, give him the blue key.

David searched his father's belongings.

Nothing.

Then Clara suddenly remembered.

“The necklace.”

“What necklace?”

“The one Dad gave you.”

David touched the chain around his neck.

He had worn it since childhood.

He removed it.

Inside the pendant was a tiny compartment.

And inside that compartment...

A blue key.

David stared at it.

Leah whispered:

“What does it open?”

David didn't know.

Then his phone rang.

Unknown number.

He answered.

A man's voice said:

“You finally found it.”

David froze.

“Who are you?”

The voice laughed softly.

“You don't remember me.”

David looked at Clara.

Then at Leah.

The voice continued:

“But your father did.”

The call ended.

David looked at the blue key.

The nightmare had changed.

It was no longer about his mother.

It wasn't even about Emily.

There was another secret.

One his father had taken to the grave.
