Chapter 3 - The Room Was Filling With WaterWater covered the floor.

It was already several inches deep and rising.
Lily was trapped on top of a small wooden dresser, trembling, soaked, and clutching a stuffed rabbit against her chest.
Her pajamas were drenched.
Her lips were blue.
“Grandma!”
Margaret rushed forward.
She lifted Lily into her arms.
The little girl's body shook violently.
“I'm here. Grandma's here.”
Lily buried her face against Margaret's neck.
“Daddy said it was a game.”
Margaret looked at Daniel.
“What did you do?”
Daniel's face was ghost-white.
“I didn't—”
“Call 911!”
He didn't move.
Margaret grabbed her phone.
“I already am.”
Outside, thunder exploded across the sky.
The ceiling light flickered.
Then went dark.
For a moment, there was nothing but rain, water, and Lily's terrified breathing.
Margaret held the child tighter.
“Stay with me, sweetheart.”
Lily whispered into her shoulder.
“Daddy locked me in.”
Margaret closed her eyes.
Something inside her broke.

Then something else took its place.
