“We need to talk.”

“About what?”

Behind the hospital room door, Lily stirred.
Margaret leaned closer.
“Sweetheart?”
Lily opened her eyes.
“Grandma?”
“Yes.”
“Daddy wasn't laughing.”
Margaret's heart tightened.
